String Cheese is the electrifying combination of fiddler, Diana Ladio, and cellist, Alison Lynn. With their feel-good melodies, and foot-stomping, rock-influenced rhythms, these girls have put a fresh, enticing spin on Celtic and Americana music. Though rooted in tradition, the two and offer listeners the unique opportunity to experience two of the world’s best-known instruments and oldest genres through a young, progressive lens. The girls put on a fun, family-friendly show that leaves audiences smiling almost as much as the two performers. String Cheese’' captivating sounds and ability to connect to all audiences has made it one of Michigan’'s most promising instrumental acts.
While the two can light up the stage, they can also be found in classrooms, where they spend much time introducing different styles of music to students, and preaching the importance of non-classical music in youth music curriculums. The band formed in 2006, and is now based in Ann Arbor, MI.

Multi-faceted fiddler, song-writer, and classical violist, Diana Ladio, began playing at a young age and knew immediately that her niche was on stage. She began touring on the front lines of the Chelsea House Orchestra, and went on to co-found the Celtic Fusion duo, String Cheese, who recently performed as soloists with the Battle Creek Symphony. After joining the ranks of Celtic rock powerhouse, Craic Wisely, Diana continued her career as a primarily Celtic fiddler, but also can be heard playing Bluegrass, Americana, and Roots music on both acoustic and electric instruments. She joined forces with Jen Sygit, Jo Serrapere, and Laura Bates to comprise the all-female Roots band, Stella!, and recently signed on as the fiddle player for Bluegrass experience, Dragon Wagon.
With her various projects, Diana has frequented The Ann Arbor Ark, The Intersection, The Small Planet, The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Michigan Womyns Music Festival, Michigan Irish Music Festival, Michigan Roots Jamboree, Lansing's Festival of the Sun, Kalamazoo Irish Festival, Fifth/Third Ballpark, Alma Highland Games, and St. Andrews Highland Games, among many others. She has performed with and/or opened for such artists as Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas, Gaelic Storm, The Young Dubliners, Jason Dennie, and The Ragbirds. She is currently based in Ann Arbor, MI where she recently graduated from the University Of Michigan School Of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance and a teaching certificate in Music Education. Diana also teaches privately in both classical music and fiddle styles.
Dynamic cellist, Alison Lynn, truly pushes the limits of what a cello can do. Full of energy, this free spirit packs a punch into every note she plays. Whether going back to her classical roots, bowing out a Bach suite, or rocking across stage with her electric Ned Steinberger cello; Alison knows how to mesmerize a crowd, get toes tapping, and audiences rocking.
During Alison's college years she discovered her passion for alternative styles of music, Celtic Rock, composing, recording, electric cellos, loop pedals, and her best friend and fiddler, Diana Ladio with whom she co-founded the groups String Cheese and Daughters of Newgrass.
With her various ensembles, Alison has captivated audiences at such locales as the Ann Arbor Ark, the Intersection, Small Planet, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Michigan Irish Music Festival, Lansings Festival of the Sun, Kalamazoo Irish Festival, Alma Highland Games, and St. Andrews Highland Games, among many others. She has shared the stages of the Palace of Auburn Hills, the Van Andel Arena, and the Breslin center with the Tran-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) and has accompanied Kanye West at the Aspen Jazz Festival. She has performed with Vanessa Williams, the Battle Creek Symphony, Gaelic Storm and the Young Dubliners and beside the talented Mark OConnor. She has opened for Celtic music greats: Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas.
